Sumary
The paper contributes to the knowledge of the results of the private management of water and sanitation services in Argentina, specifically the subnational provision experiences, focusing on a case that have been less studied: the provision of services in the province of Buenos Aires during 1999 to 2006. This paper is based on the analysis of a set of sources: regulations, concession agreements and the judgments of the International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes.
Firstly, it makes a historical review of the provision from its beginnings to the concession; then the main aspects of the concession, the context, the division of land into areas of business, and the entry of Azurix Buenos Aires SA and Aguas del Gran Buenos Aires SA is characterized.
