Sumary
Digital technologies allows the transmission and use of all materials protected by copyright and related rights in interactive networks. The transmission of text, sounds, images and software over the Internet has become commonplace, removing the barriers of space and time, allowing for ubiquitous and asynchronous communication. If appropriate legal standards are not set, the digital technology could be used to undermine the basic principles of copyright. Therefore a suitable legal framework establishing balanced competition to provide incentives to creators, performers and local producers, to support software industries and encourage the creation of new industries like necessary. This paper aims to detail the legal protection of software in most domestic laws and internationally and analyze their effectiveness. |
