» THE SYMBOLIC CONSTRUCTION OF ACTIONS ON LIVING SPACE: CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF DISCOURSES OF GCABA AND LIFE HISTORIES OF INDIVIDUALS IN POVERTY SITUATIONS
By Mariana Carolina Marchese

Sumary

In this paper I study how, during the first decade of autonomy of the City of Buenos Aires, the discourses of the City’s Government symbolically constructed the relation between subjects in poverty situations and their access to decent living spaces. After analyzing this construction, I study how it impacted on the lives of the inhabitants of the city who went through situations of poverty and housing issues. The epistemological paradigm that underpins my work is interpretative. The methodology is predominantly qualitative and inductive and the corpus is studied using the Method of convergent linguistic approaches for discourse analysis in critical perspective.

Key words

Living space – symbolic construction – Critical Discourse Analysis – life histories – governmental discourses
